Force Landed 21/02/29 Richmond NSW, after Striking a farmer during low level flight. The Pilot Sgt Robert F Somerville flew too low and struck his future father in law Mr AC Smith and killed him. Sgt Sommerville was charged with Manslaughter but was acquitted, and was reduced in rank and grounded. Later he regained flying status. |

The aircraft crashed a short distance from the haystack and was destroyed. FLGOFF Ryan survived the impact and was critically injured and later died of those injuries in Caulfield Repatriation Hospital two days later. |

The aircraft was also put in a spin 15/12/30 and crashed into mangroves north of the Barron River near Stratford Bridge QLD. Pilot and passenger injured. Registered VH-UOK 18/06/31 to 22/07/40. Failed to recover from a dive 09/10/38 and crashed. The pilot and passenger were killed. Impressed into RAAF Service 22/07/40. 3 EFTS (22/07/40), 1 EFTS (2/12/40) Crashed on landing 22/01/41 at Parafield. To spares 24/02/41.

Built at Stag Lane (UK) and assembled by DHA South Melbourne in 05/27 using locally made upper mainplane and tail unit. Test flown by Major H De Havilland at Essendon on 01/06/27. Registered G-AUFV 01/06/27. Modified to DH.60G (Gipsy 1) on 21/02/39. Collided with Monospar VH-UST 19/11/39over Mascot and heavily damaged. Reg cancelled 19/08/40and impressed into RAAF as A7-112 in UNSERVICEABLE condition. Returned to Royal Aeroclub of NSW for repair on 16/10/40. RESTORED to VH-UFV 31/01/41, thus never taken up by the RAAF! It had various owners and accidents until the reg VH-UFV again was reserved for it 15/03/84. VH-UFV was finally registered to a J C Star, Walbundrie, NSW on 08/12/94. C/N 1B Registered VH-ULU on 19/02/03.

11/08/30 First Australian built DH60M Moth fitted with 98hp Gipsy Mk.I engine Re-engined with 120hp Gipsy Mk.II engine. Construction number changed to DHA.3 Registered VH-UOP with Kingsford Smith Air Services 1937 damaged in a crash. During repairs it wad fitted with an inverted Gipsy III engine 27/06/40 Repairs completed by Kingsford Smith Air Services 19/08/40 Impressed into RAAF service. Received 4EFTS ex Kingsford Smith Air Services 30/01/41 collected by 1BGS 2/09/41 blown again door of hangar by engine slipstream from another aircraft 24/11/41 crashed and burnt while being engaged as a target in ground to air gunnery. Airframe written off 6/12/41 Awaiting conversion to components
