Several Armstrong Whitworth FK.3 aircraft are known to have briefly served with 3 Sqn, AFC (possibly only for a few weeks) in a training role from June 1917 at the time that the unit was equipping with R.E.8's. Also the UK based AFC training units are known to have operated the type but records of their serials are scant.

The FK.3 was almost universally referred to as the "Little Ack". (The Armstrong Whitworth FK.8 was known as the "Big Ack').
