Two EC.135's (VH-WKJ & VH-WKK) were leased by the Australian Army from HNZ Australia and based at Darwin for glass cockpit transition training for Australian Army ARH Tiger from around 2008 to early 2013.

Additionally, in November 2010, Australian Aerospace demonstrated EC-135 VH-VJB to ADF officials in Nowra and Canberra as part of the ADF’s Air 9000 Phase 7 Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) project. Australian Aerospace hired Moorabbin based Microflite’s EC135 VH-VJB for a short two day demonstration tour to the Navy, Capability Development Group and DMO officials in Nowra and Canberra.

On 27th January 2014 it was announced that Boeing Defence Australia and Thales Australia have been selected as the preferred tenderer to provide the ADF’s  new Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) under AIR 9000 Phase 7 with 15 leased EC135 T2+ Helicopters.
