Cockpit and front of aircraft transported to Ferrymead Museum
Christchurch by RNZAF Hercules NZ7005 and rest of aircraft
scrapped at Hobsonville.

With Maritime Operational Conversion Unit, Hobsonville 21 May
1956-17 October 1957.
This was the aircraft who's keel scraped along the runway during
the official opening of Rongotai on 25 October 1959 after a
downdraught forced the aircraft lower than intended.
The aircraft returned to Hobsonville where it was immediately
beached for repairs.
Flew final RNZAF Sunderland service to Chatham Islands 22 March
1967.
Declared surplus to requirements on SR48/67 dated 03 May 1967 and
sold by GSB tender to Australian Aircraft Sales in August of that
year.
