At least two RAF
Fairchild F24 Argus aircraft are know to have served with Article XV
RAAF units.
The first was HK948 which was attached to 451 Sqn to support evaluation trials of the unit's three Hawker Typhoons while they were based at El Daba, Egypt in 1943. Another (so far unidentified) Argus was "acquired" by 454 Sqn for use as a squadron hack aircraft from March to May 1945. This particular 454 Sqn Argus was traded for a Spitfire PR.IVT (BP884) in May 1945 which as only retained for a few days before it was also swapped for Auster NJ923. |
