Following the donation of 18 refurbished ex-RAAF Sabre jets to Malaysia another 18 were donated to Indonesia in 1973
The initial 18 ex-RAAF Sabres were supplemented by 5 ex Royal Malaysian Air Force examples in 1976
This page attempts to document their history with the Indonesian Air Force or Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU)

They were issued consecutive serial numbers in the form F-8601 to F-8623
The "F" prefix was later replaced wih "TS" meaning "tempur sergap" the Indonesian for "combat assault" or fighter.

The Sabres were flown by No.14 Squadron. (SkU 14)
In 1978 they formed the "Spirit 78" Aerobatic Display Team. Many of the survivors still display the red striped paint scheme
