The aircraft was struck by gunfire during a low level attack on enemy shipping in Bima Harbour.
The starboard engine was shut down and guns and ammunition were jettisoned.
With careful fuel management, the aircraft returned safely to Gove.
The navigator was E.G. Whitlam, later Prime Minister of Australia.
09/04/46 Arrived at Koepang where the pilot became ill.
As it was considered uneconomical to return the aircraft to Australia, it was abandoned. 03/06/46

in experiments to extract aircrew from crashed aircraft.
A large, truck-mounted hole saw was used to cut circular holes in the fuselage.
These holes were approximately the same diameter as the fuselage roundel.
